Earlier today, the sad news broke that Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor had passed away. The actress was at a medical centre in Los Angeles surrounded by her children when it happened at 1.30am this morning. Her publicist commented, "Though [Taylor] had recently suffered a number of complications, her condition had stabilized and it was hoped that she would be able to return home. Sadly, this was not to be." Taylor's height of fame was between the '60s and '70s when she was married to Richard Burton. The couple originally wed in 1964 for ten years, before getting divorced and then married again in 1975. During the '60s, she won two academy awards for BUtterfield 8 and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Her most famous role was as Cleopatra in 1963. Very sad news is breaking this afternoon as classic actress Elizabeth Taylor has died. She was 79 years old and at the Cedars Sinai medical centre in Los Angeles. She will be remembered as a screen icon and one of the biggest classic Hollywood stars. It is thought that she suffered from heart failure. She is perhaps best known for her work in the '50s and '60s when she won two Oscars and for her famous marriage to Richard Burton which began in 1964.
Elizabeth spent much of her later life dedicated to her Aids charity, which she set up in 1991 following the death of Rock Hudson. She has been ill for some time suffering from congestive heart failure since 2004 having already survived surgery for a benign brain tumour in 1997. She wasn't going to let that slow her down though as she tweeted last year, "No one is going to play Elizabeth Taylor, but Elizabeth Taylor herself. Not at least until I'm dead, and at the moment I'm having too much fun being alive...and I plan on staying that way. Happiness to all." Our thoughts are with her friends and family at this sad time.
If images of the Mulberry Spring campaign weren't exciting enough for you, then maybe you'll be more impressed by this short film. The photos come to life in this short advert as the focus lies on the beautful flowers which surround models Lindsey Wixson and Nimue Smit. The background music is great for a sunny day like today, too!
I have been eying up this biker jacket since I saw it in the Burberry Prorsum Spring '11 collection and now it has become a celebrity favourite. Last night, Keira Knightley arrived at the Comedy Theatre wearing hers with loose fitting trousers and a satchel. The double breasted biker (£2,195) is sure to get better with wear too as this style looks good a bit worn in. Do you like this jacket?
Have you ever felt the desire to cheat . . . on your hairstylist? Katie Holmes has (playing the fictional character of American actress Joan Hudson) in this film noir-style short, which she debuted Tuesday night in NYC. Joan has a problem, you see. She and her stylist are rumored to have parted ways, and someone has taken his place: John Frieda's new DIY Precision Foam Hair Color. Watch as Katie totes around a bird, makes goofy faces at a TSA-esque official, and realizes "it's a good day to dye." What do you think of the tongue-in-cheek flick?
Uma Thurman hit the red carpet last night in LA for the premiere of Ceremony. She wore a gold lame coat dress for the occasion with strappy sandals. Her accessories included a silver cuff and chandelier earrings. Do you like this metallic ensemble on her?
There are so many reasons to be jealous of Sienna Miller and her new handbag is just one of them. The actress was spotted out and about carrying this eye-catching bag from Prada. The orange Madras bag (£1,595) has a top handle and a long shoulder strap. It is typical of Miuccia Prada as it is ladylike, but fun too. I am assuming that the name relates to the bright hue of the bag. Are you a fan of this arm candy?
