Fab Flash: Alexander McQueen's Successor is Named

After much speculation with various names being thrown around, Alexander McQueen's successor has been named.

After much speculation with various names being thrown around, Alexander McQueen's successor has been named. The role has been awarded to Sarah Burton who was McQueen's right hand woman. Burton has been working at McQueen since 1996 and became head of womenswear in 2000.

She commented, "The creation of modern, beautifully crafted clothes was at the heart of Lee's vision. I intend to stay true to his legacy." Following McQueen's sudden death in February, Burton completed his Autumn '10 collection which was met with critical acclaim.

The Gucci group announced plans to keep the label going shortly after McQueen's suicide. Burton will present her first collection as creative director, a pre collection, in June and the Spring line at Paris Fashion Week in October.

Trend Alert: One Shoulder Mini Dress

One shoulder dresses are always around, but this season they seem to be more popular than ever.

One shoulder dresses are always around, but this season they seem to be more popular than ever. Kylie Minogue wore a one shoulder mini dress to last night's National Movie Awards proving how great it can look.

I think that this is a great look if you're attending a wedding party this Summer. There are so many different colours and prints that you're sure to find something which suits you.

I really like bargain printed version (pictured, £14) which would look great with gladiator sandals. I also like ASOS's coral dress (£95). Will you be wearing a one shoulder dress this Summer?

Louis Vuitton Ad Banned in the UK

There's been a trend growing recently in the UK for ad campaigns to be more factual.

There's been a trend growing recently in the UK for ad campaigns to be more factual. It started with beauty ads like Cheryl Cole's L'oreal campaign which landed in hot water for using hair extensions, and has now moved on to high fashion.

On the day that Louis Vuitton opened their flashiest store yet in London, two of their newest ads were banned across the UK for suggesting that the bags were hand stitched. The ASA pressured Louis Vuitton about whether the bags were actually hand crafted and found that sewing machines had been used, although argued that the ads paid 'homage to the craftsmanship'.

It's an interesting move, and I'm sure one that won't upset Louis Vuitton customers that much. However, this isn't the only misleading fashion ad campaign. Do you think more should be done to crack down on advertising, or do you think brands have a bit of a creative license?
