Trend Alert: Statement Tees

From Katharine Hamnett to Henry Holland, the statement tee has a place every season and Spring '09 is no exception.

From Katharine Hamnett to Henry Holland, the statement tee has a place every season and Spring '09 is no exception. It adds a punky touch to any casual outfit and is really easy to wear. Either just team with jeans for a relaxed daytime ensemble or with wetlook leggings and killer heels for a night out.

They've had a bit of a vintage makeover this season as the text is faded and simple colour schemes are used. I'm a particularly big fan of the "Je t'aime Paris' top (£12) which would look great with denim shorts, thick black tights and ankle boots. See below for more examples.

Fab Ad: Jerry Hall for Chanel

Recent months have seen the return of classic beauties like Claudia Schiffer and Helena Christensen.

Recent months have seen the return of classic beauties like Claudia Schiffer and Helena Christensen. Now Jerry Hall joins them in the Spring adverts for Chanel. Karl Lagerfeld photographed Jerry, and based the shoot on Colette's post-war novel, Cheri, a love story between an older woman and a younger man. Karl gathered his inspiration from Oscar Wilde who said, "I like men who have a future, and women who have a past." Karl went onto explain, "It was the idea of seduction that is summarised here that appeals to me. One of a very young man fascinated and attracted by what a woman does: her wardrobe, her perfume, her movements, her allure, etc."

The male model featured in these images is Baptiste Giabiconi. With Madonna also recently being photographed with a younger man, I sense a trend emerging. What do you think of the images below?

Fab Flash: London Fashion Week on the Move

Fashion weeks across the world are subject to change at the moment as the global economy problems threaten even the biggest designers.

Fashion weeks across the world are subject to change at the moment as the global economy problems threaten even the biggest designers. Earlier this month New York Fashion Week announced a change of venue for 2010 and now it seems that London might follow suit.

In September the shows might move to a more central venue at Somerset House. The change is still under discussion but is expected to be confirmed today.

London Fashion Week has been based at the Natural History Museum since September 2005 but with shows being held all over the capital it makes more sense for it to have a central base. The Autumn 2009 shows kick off on Friday 20th February.

Style Glossary: Paisley

Last summer I told you that paisley prints were back and this Spring they're around more than ever.

Last summer I told you that paisley prints were back and this Spring they're around more than ever.

Paisley is defined as, "A swirled pattern characterized by a teardrop shape. Popularized in Paisley, Scotland, during the 1800s, this design was originally an adaptation of a spade pattern found on Indian shawls. Today, paisley decorates everything from sheetings to fine dresses and always makes a statement of rich elegance."
