Fab Flash: BFC Announce Scholarship Winner

Graduate Fashion Week may feel like a lifetime ago but this summer's show of graduates is still having a big impact on the fashion industry. Today it was announced that Manchester School of Art graduate Nabil El-Nayal is the lucky winner of the British Fashion Council's scholarship.

The young designer will take up his place at the Royal College of Art to study an MA in Fashion Womenswear. A panel, which included Burberry creative director Christopher Bailey chose Nabil for the scholarship which is part funded by the London Development Agency.

Nabil presented a line of Victorian-nightwear inspired dresses back in June. His pieces closed the Manchester graduate show.

6 Of The Best Umbrellas

We're pretty accustomed to rain here in Blighty.

We're pretty accustomed to rain here in Blighty. Even though it's late August we're still experiencing April showers and learning how to dress for this weather is never easy.

An umbrella is a handbag essential here in the UK but I can never seem to remember where I left mine, perhaps I need one for every handbag in order to co-ordinate!

Although a black umbrella is a classic, I think it's much more fun to brighten up a dull, grey day with a bright coloured version! Alternatively opt for a transparent version and act like the Queen.

See below for some of the great umbrellas currently available, who says being practical can't be chic?

Bag to Have: Chloé Paraty

Katie Holmes has been hosting a one-woman fashion show for casual attire recently as she heads to rehearsals in NYC for All My Sons.

Katie Holmes has been hosting a one-woman fashion show for casual attire recently as she heads to rehearsals in NYC for All My Sons. She has been favouring baggy boyfriend jeans (rolled up slightly) and plain tops or crisp white shirts.

However, we must not overlook her choice of accessories! The beautiful handbag which she has been showing off is the latest from those handbag geniuses over at Chloé. The Chloé Paraty is adored by mortals and celebrities alike. Kate Bosworth had hers way back in April but we had to wait. Katie has hers in python which raises up the price slightly.

Although it's not currently available online my sources at the Chloé store on Sloane Street, London inform me that they do have the leather bag in stock for £891 or in python skin for £1780.

Who Wore It Better? Roberto Cavalli Silk Floral Maxi This dress was absolutely stunning on the Spring Cavalli runway so it's no surprise Hollywood's youth are all over it, or rather, all in it. Mischa wore a heavier floral version with a hippie headband at Cannes in May, Juliette Lewis standing by. And Lauren Conrad wore hers on the beach for The Hills premiere party.

Exclusive Few Fab Words With Bay Garnett

When we meet, Bay Garnett had only given birth 7 days before.

When we meet, Bay Garnett had only given birth 7 days before. She is truly dedicated meeting me with her baby daughter sleeping silently on the sofa next to us. She is working to promote Shop Style UK where she has already created many looks using her style icons as inspiration. She describes the style books as a virtual 'mood board' or a dressing up box which is great because "going shopping is a bit of a nightmare."

Bay made her name as a stylist working on publications such as Vogue and with design houses Chloe (the Bay handbag is named after her), Louis Vuitton and Matthew Williamson. She went on to launch the Cheap Date magazine with Kira Jolliffe before together writing The Cheap Date Guide to Style.

We caught up with her to find out if she was still passionate about thrifting, how motherhood had changed her and her top shopping tips. To see the interview read more

Fab Ad

Fab Ad: Daisy Lowe for Converse

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Daisy Lowe.

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Daisy Lowe. She's adorable and doll-like but also seems like a great deal of fun! Or at least thats how she comes across in photos. At Glastonbury we saw her goofing around for the camera yet she still looks great. Now she is fronting the latest Converse ad campaign with Luke Wade with the same playfulness. I think that Daisy is a great face for the brand as she has rock chick style. What do you think of the ads?

Freaky or Fabulous? Open Toe Boots

Most of you were not a fan of Marni's open toe boots which Net-a-Porter highlighted as a key trend for Autumn/Winter.

Most of you were not a fan of Marni's open toe boots which Net-a-Porter highlighted as a key trend for Autumn/Winter. It's true, open toe boots are possible the most impractical items of the season but surely if teamed with the right outfit they can look great?

They require black tights or maybe even jeans but are not completely impossible to wear. This pair of wrap-around boots are by Chloe (£385) and would look great with a dark coloured dress and tights.

What do you think of open toe boots in general, freaky or fabulous?
