There are gazillions of precautions that women take once the find out they are pregnant. One of the most common no no's you hear about is that hair dye can penetrate your scalp and pose a threat to your unborn child. This is why pregnant women often refuse to colour their hair. While studies show that the chemicals in hair dye may not necessarily harm the fetus, it isn't entirely risk free either. Especially in the first trimester, you risk the possibility of miscarriage and birth defects related to the heart and/or the kidneys.
Just look at Colleen Rooney who was out shopping last week in Manchester. It sure doesn't look to me like she's sporting eight months worth of growth, does it look that way to you? I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on the controversial topic, so vote and let me know if you think you'd dye your hair when became pregnant.

no way. no reason to be vain at the expense of your wee baby
1Agreed skigurl. My mid-brown hair was blonde when I found out I was pregnant, and just endured having roots for 9 months.
My hair grew so quickly that after my baby was born I just lopped all the old colour off and it's all natural, no colour - for the first time in my life! - and already to my shoulders.
Plus my hair texture was so different when I was pregnant, who knows what would have happened to it.
2I wouldn't, but mostly because I don't really need to. I've heard that the risks are minimal. But do wait until the second trimester.
3scientist are coming up with nano technologies because those are the only particles that can actually penetrate your skin (not just the dead coat on top) to deliver some skincare products, so why would you think hair dye can actually penetrate anything? if it could they wouldn't spend so much time and money on new technologies to make something work
