Versus to Expand Collaborations and Bid Adieu to Christopher Kane

This morning, Gianni Versace Spa made an announcement about the repositioning of their "young heart, soul and spirit of Versace brand", Versus.

This morning, Gianni Versace Spa made an announcement about the repositioning of their "young heart, soul and spirit of Versace brand", Versus. The idea is there will be more of a digital media approach to advertising and many future capsule collaborations with up and coming designers and stylists. Christopher Kane, who was the main collaborator with Versus, will be replaced by new talent. Additionally, the new designs won't be showcased only at fashion week, but on a more regular basis throughout all seasons. In a press release, Donatella Versace said,

"This is a very exciting development for Versus, and I’m thrilled to be engaged in such a major shake-up of the fashion world’s rules. I want to thank Christopher for his contribution to Versus over 6 seasons, during which I have been able to appreciate his extraordinary talent. Working with young talented people, and see them grow and develop as I have seen Christopher do over these years, is one of the most rewarding parts of my work. I wish him all the best for the development of his own line. He will always have my total support."

Versace's Party Guests (Obviously) Opt For Leather and Bustiers

When in Rome . . . that seemed to be the motto adopted by Donatella's party guests at her SoHo store opening last night. The celebrity party guests, a crowd that included Kanye and Lady Gaga, showed their support for Versace in a range of the label's high-impact wares. Even Alexa Chung, who doesn't exactly strike us as a high-drama Versace girl, embraced the night's theme, albeit tempered with her own charm, in a burgundy leather skirt by Versace's younger line, Versus. Meanwhile, the supermodel contingent, including Coco Rocha and Bar Refaeli, took a page right out of Donatella's book, as did Jennifer Hudson, who joined the leather-clad crew of models in a fit-and-flare skirt and knee-high boots. Francesa Versace knows a thing or two about looking good as heir to the family fortune, and learnt plenty about makeup backstage at Versace catwalk shows, but her main beauty secret was garnered at the kitchen table. She told the Daily Telegraph:

"It was so flashy and loud backstage, and I learnt so much about cosmetics. But I didn't use any of it, because my mother wanted to teach me proper skincare first. She would insist upon me moisturising my face heavily, every day. We'd go to the supermarket weekly and buy Greek yogurt so that every afternoon when I came home from school we could sit in our kitchen, drinking tea with yogurt on our faces."

Yogurt needn't be confined to the face as it can used all over your body, from a foot scrub or hand soak to a scalp conditioner, and many brands have included it in their products. They all looked incredible in body-con designer dresses specially created to be showcased for all of the world to see. Victoria Beckham wore a greige, tight number, whilst Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was dressed in an Antonio Berardi gown paired with Harry Winston jewellery and a Jimmy Choo clutch. Lily Collins wore a lovely lace Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2012 dress and Kate Beckinsale donned a gold and black tight, sexy Atelier Versace number. If the first Versace for H&M collection has left you wanting more, look out for the second line, launching Jan.

If the first Versace for H&M collection has left you wanting more, look out for the second line, launching Jan. 19. However, there's one minor speed bump — the Cruise collection will only be available online, and H&M won't have e-commerce set up for its US costumers until Fall 2012. But don't let that stop you. We're predicting a lot of the pieces will show up on eBay once the collection drops. Donatella Versace gathered her famous friends and fans together last night at NYC's Pier 57 for the launch of her Versace For H&M collection.

Donatella Versace gathered her famous friends and fans together last night at NYC's Pier 57 for the launch of her Versace For H&M collection. It was a huge event that featured a runway show of the colorful, studded designs in addition to a show from Prince and Nicki Minaj! Donatalla said on the black carpet that she was inspired to create the limited-edition line after seeing young people wearing vintage Versace, and that some of the patterns she used haven't been touched since her brother Gianni's death in 1997. Donatella's daughter Allegra Beck spoke with the press as well, saying she was hoping for a fun evening and that her favorite piece is the pink-studded frock.

Selma Blair was wearing Allegra's pick, and she stopped to chat about new motherhood. Her baby son, Arthur, was off at his hotel with a nanny named Polo, and she said motherhood is amazing — but that it's also hard, and people don't really dwell on that fact. Steven Dorff told us that he's had so many fun nights in Versace clothes, but he shouldn't really divulge what he got up to. Chace Crawford, meanwhile, revealed that his outfit was picked out by the kind people at Versace, and Chloe Moretz gushed for a moment about the joys of working with Johnny Depp and Tim Burton on Dark Shadows. Jessica Alba, Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha, and Abbie Cornish were among the other stylish ladies to check out the bash. Blake Lively was the last to arrive in a strapless mini and then headed inside to mingle with pals like Chace — stay tuned for more later today on PopSugar Rush!
