Congratulations to Stella McCartney for winning the Designer of the Year Award at the 2012 British Fashion Awards in London this evening! Stay tuned for all of the exciting photos and details from the big event that took place the Savoy Theatre later.
Stella McCartney had her usual roster of celebrities in the front row today during Paris Fashion Week. Kate Moss, Salma Hayek, and Paul McCartney were among those out to see Stella's Spring 2013 collection. Jerry Seinfeld even made the trek to France for the show! Kate made the rounds with her pal Mario Testino after lunching at Café de Flore, while Salma brought her husband, Francois-Henri Pinault, whose PPR company owns Stella's line. Rachel Zoe also stepped out with her man, Rodger Berman. They're the latest celebrities at Paris Fashion Week — make sure to check out all our runway news from the shows straight from our editors in Paris.
Plenty of fashionable females hit the red carpet last night to celebrate GQ Men of the Year Awards in London. Jessie J debuted her new look shorter hair as she posed in a floor-length tuxedo jacket dress, and Woman of the Year Lana Del Rey also took the occasion to show off her darker locks, which contrasted with her Wayne Cooper cream gown and Salvatore Ferragamo clutch. Katherine Jenkins was one of four women dressed by Stella McCartney — Olympian Victoria Pendleton and socialite Heather Kerzner also wore black dresses from the British designer's London Evening Collection, while Louise Redknapp chose a jacquard brocade-print dress and the designer herself donned a black strapless jumpsuit from her spring 2013 range. Take a look at all of the other attendees here, including Kylie Minogue, Kelly Brook and more, and tell me who was most fab!
Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky hit the red carpet in London last night for British GQ's Men of the Year Awards. Elsa and Chris had a kids-free night out on the town. Four-month-old India Hemsworth was at home, though she's often spotted traveling the world with her famous parents, recently visiting far-flung locations like LA and Madrid.
Elsa and Chris mingled at the bash with other celebs like Sacha Baron Cohen and Homeland's Damien Lewis. Stella McCartney also made the rounds with her husband, Alasdhair Willis. The whole celeb group was treated to a performance from NYC rapper Azealia Banks and jokes from hosts Jimmy Carr and David Walliams. Jimmy got things off on a cheeky note by saying, "Prince Harry would have been here tonight, but he didn't have anything to wear." Michael Fassbender took home a statue too as actor of the year.
The British Fashion Council has announced the shortlisted nominees for the British Fashion Awards 2012. Stella McCartney leads the pack with three nominations. She'll do battle with Mary Katrantzou and Christopher Kane in the coveted Designer Of The Year category, go head-to-head with Alexander McQueen, Burberry and Mulberry to win Designer Brand, and attempt to win the Red Carpet Award yet again fighting off competition from Victoria Beckham, Alessandra Rich and Roksanda Ilincic. The public can chime in to name the winner of the British Style Award of the Year (will Alexa Chung win it for the third year in a row?). The winners will be announced at the award ceremony on Nov. 27. To see the full list of British Fashion Awards 2012 nominees, read more
Choosing a scent in Summer can prove more of a challenge than the cooler months, what with hot temperatures and sun products combining to make it all the more difficult for your perfume to stand out. I've selected fragrances from Stella McCartney, National Trust, Anna Sui, Benefit, Jo Malone, The Body Shop, Ted Baker, Davidoff and Guerlain that will compete for a place in your cosmetics cupboard. Take a look at them all here, and tell me what you'll be spritzing!
Natalia Vodianova is the face of Stella McCartney's ad campaign for a third season in a row. Just like last year's Autumn/Winter campaign, the ads were shot in London by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. The models wears a flared stretch tweed minidress in some of the pictures, and poses in an embroidered white poplin shirt with a faux-croc Grace clutch bag in others. Stella styled the campaign herself, and told WWD: "[We tried] to create a striking, memorable image that will leap off the page and capture the energy of the collection and Natalia’s personality." I love the fun shots and kooky look, what about you?
This month is all about the Olympics, so that's reflected in my wardrobe with sporty offerings from the likes of Stella McCartney and Ashish for Topshop. Festival season continues, making ingenious Hunter wellies top on my list, while the latest British It bag from Alexander McQueen has got me salivating. New beauty buys from the National Trust, MAC, Chanel and Benefit round out my August must haves. Take a look here at my picks and tell me yours!
Last night in London, British fashionistas flocked to the Royal Academy of Arts for the UK's Creative Industries Reception as part of the GREAT Campaign. What with the Olympics, it was appropriate that several guests chose to wear a patriotic colour from the Union Jack. Model Lily Cole went for a bold red coatdress with floral heels, while Fearne Cotton wore a white loose number with matching bag and colour pop turquiose platforms, and Stella McCartney chose a blue trouser suit from her own collection. Kate Middleton, meanwhile, opted for a dove grey Roksanda Ilincic dress. Let me know which Brit had the best patriotic style!
On Friday in London, the 2012 Olympics opened with a bang, not least in the fashion stakes. Kate Middleton wore a pastel blue satin Christopher Kane coat dress to the Buckingham Palace reception, where she was joined by First Lady Michelle Obama in J.Mendel. They both headed over to the Olympic Stadium for the opening ceremony, where Team GB kit designer Stella McCartney entered the spirit of the Games in her gold sports-luxe trouser suit, having designed a bespoke jacket for her dad Paul McCartney's performance, Samantha Cameron was in a red and black Roksanda Ilinic top, and the Queen was pretty in pink. Take a look through the first weekend's fashion and tell me what you thought of the opening ceremony!
