We've seen little of the expecting Duchess since she's announced the news of her pregnancy, but what we have seen, are photos of Kate walking around Chelsea and Glasgow clad in plaid. From a Diane von Furstenberg coat to a bespoke Alexander McQueen coat dress, a Zara cape and most recently a grey and navy tartan number from Moloh (all of which are non-maternity), take a look at what Kate Middleton has been wearing in the UK to keep her growing royal belly safe and warm. At the end of the photos, don't forget to take a moment to vote on which piece of outerwear you like best.
On Thursday, the Alexander McQueen Creative Director, Sarah Burton visited Buckingham Palace to receive an OBE (Order of the British Empire) for her outstanding contribution to the British fashion world. Apparently, she was "very, very humbled" to be honored like this and presented with her award from none other than Prince Charles. With her past track record for designing Kate Middleton's wedding dress along with a large percentage of Kate's day to day wardrobe, she was asked a frank question about designing maternity clothing for the The Duchess and replied, "I hope I will be."
I couldn't agree more. Here's hoping that Kate will stay looking as graceful and elegant as she has been acting throughout her reign in the royal family in chic, well tailored maternity wear.
The saying is true that money can't buy you good health, and it is case in point for our poor Duchess of Cornwall Kate Middleton. The 30 year old Princess is feeling quite under the weather lately and has been admitted to King Edwards VII Hospital for acute morning sickness. Along with some ginger tea and bland biscuits, I've gathered a selection of beauty products to help calm, relaxe and soothe her growing and very tired tummy. Take a peek below!
All hail the latest in royal news, as it is officially announced today that Kate Middleton is pregnant! An official Palace statement proclaimed earlier today, "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby." Unfortunately, she has been feeling quite ill with morning sickness, but hopefully that will pass soon. I for one can't wait to see what this modern royal mum-to-be will be wearing as we watch her petite frame grow over the upcoming months — how about you?
Awww — just look at all of these beautiful growing bellies in Britain right now. Not only is model Lara Stone, TV presenter Fearne Cotton and Saturdays band member Rochelle Wiseman pregnant for the first time, but singer Lily Allen, chef Sophie Dahl, socialite Peaches Geldof, TV anchor Edith Bowman and WAG Coleen Rooney are blossoming with their second children. Read all about their special deliveries and vote at the end to let me know which of these pregnant pretties you think is the most stylish. Congrats to the happy couples!
Falling pregnant is a beautiful thing, but it requires you to pay extra special attention to what you eat and how you take care of yourself. Whilst it's very important to get enough sleep, partake in light exercise and pamper your growing body which often results in awkward aches and pains, it is also imperative to keep an eye on the ingredients in the beauty products you use. I know it may seem silly to worry about a topical ointment, cream or notion that you apply to your skin, but believe it or not, there have been enough studies that find that certain toxins are strong enough to make their way through your skin and into your bloodstream to effect your developing foetus. Read carefully to find out which 5 beauty products you should avoid whilst pregnant.
A couple of weeks ago I visited one of my favourite boutiques, Donna Ida in South Kensington to check out their très chic maternity alteration service in their denim clinic. What makes it so unique is that they will insert either elastic side panels or a full elastic waistband that stretches over your belly for the duration of your pregnancy into a pre-existing pair of jeans or pants, or they will do the alteration to any of their items at the shops. The coolest part is that the pants can also be altered back to their pre-pregnancy style after you have the baby — all for £40!
The women in the 5 boutiques across London are so sweet to work with. They measure your belly to ensure a good fit (of course allowing room to grow) and then you are free to pick them up a week later. I just really like that you don't have to miss almost two whole seasons of shopping because you are pregnant. You can still look fashionable and invest in a pricey pair of Goldsign, J Brand, Seven or Citizen of Humanity jeans, cords or pants without having to bid adieu to them postpartum. It's a wonderful and practical solution for stylish mums!
Congratulations to these beautiful British women who are either expecting, or have given birth in 2011. The future generation is sure to be fabulously dressed with mums like these. Check out nine gorgeous gals who have carried little cuties around in 2011 and vote on who you think is the best dressed at the end!
I've heard many women gush about how lush their hair and nails were during pregnancy, but everyone failed to mention that once the baby comes, all of that gorgeous hair your gain, falls out in droves.
For me, it didn't happen until I finished nursing, but once it started, I feared it wasn't going to stop! After about a month, it eventually slowed down, however, the hair that went missing is mostly around my hairline. Now that it's beginning to grow back ... how can I say this ... it looks a lot like velcro!
I realize the regrowth process will just take time and eventually sort itself out, and until then I'll just be loading up on hairspray and Alice bands, but I wish that I knew this was going to happen.
Did you or anyone that you are close to experience post-pregnancy hair loss and if so, what are your feelings about it?
We're all totally thrilled to learn that Kate Hudson's expecting again! There are some women with a style sense that never quits — not even when they're expecting — and Kate's at the top of my list. She gave birth to son Ryder in January '04 and carried off some of the most amazing looks on the red carpet, all while she was pregnant in 2003, dressing her bump in gorgeous maxi dresses, short, breezier, leg-baring minis, and even baring a little belly at a film premiere.
