Last night at the American Eagle Outfitters flagship store preview party in New York City, Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester really played up her new rockstar style wearing cherry red lipstick paired with a mix of metallic gold and smoky purple eye shadow. This is an updated version of a popular red and purple trend from the 1980's, and it totally oozes too cool for school — even for high society institutions like Constance or NYU! i love her but i'm not really a fan of this!
respect her attempt to try something a little different....
the eyes don't work full stop.
1the lipstick is perfection but it doesn't really 'mesh well'.
perhaps if she'd gone for something else rather than the gold for the second colour of the eyes, just played it safer with metallic black perhaps - then it would have?

4It looks awful. The eyes aren't neat at all, and makes it look like she's been in a fight, from far away.
5i love it!!! the purple and the red, plus no blush looks intense! this is definitely something i'd wear, this is actually a lot like my favorite makeup look for myself, which is surrounding the eyes with intense blue and wearing hot pink lipstick. judging by the other comments though, i take it this is tacky

7this is not "rockstar;" this is undead! in what universe would anyone think this looks good???!!!! the color combo is fine; I have no problem with it; but the overliad of eye makeup and a strong lip PLUS the awful, vampire skin is just not okay...
