Beauty Byte: L'Oreal Launches 100,000 Years of Beauty
L'Oreal celebrated its 100th birthday in 2009, and to commemorate the milestone, they've launched a five-volume book set that chronicles beauty throughout the ages called 100,000 Years of Beauty. They have been accessible in Paris, however, newly translated English copies are now available as the books are just setting sail on a European and American press tour. They took ten years to create, as they cohesively capture the link between the development of humanity and beauty in a wide historical and sociological structure. They include input from museums, over 300 specialists, 35 nationalities and 20 disciplines such as philosophy, history, archeology and art. Elizabeth Azoulay, the Editorial Director said,
"Most of the books — and there are very few — speak of beauty in general and not specifically of human beauty. Others have generally focused on the Western world and cover a relatively short time span."

The books are stacked in different sizes and colours that create a pyramid. They contain articles, photos and definitions of beauty from pre-historic times and even take a peek into what beauty is projecting for the future. If you're interested, hurry up and buy a limited-edition copy of an English-translation version available for $295 (roughly £185). It's expensive, but you're worth it (hee hee). Below are a selection of photos you can find inside — enjoy!
