Kate Spade Opens Two Boutiques in London

It's always exciting when a store that you love comes to your neighborhood, especially when it's such a great fit.

It's always exciting when a store that you love comes to your neighborhood, especially when it's such a great fit. That's how I feel about the new Kate Spade boutiques that have just been added to Sloane Square and Covent Garden. The mod brand, which houses everything from leather bags, wallets, shoes, accessories, clothing, and jewellery, had a welcome party last week at the Sloane Square outpost located just across the way from Peter Jones.

The store was covered in giant pink balloons, Champagne, lots of little odes to New York and London such as cool coasters and notebooks that were given away as parting gifts. Even New York City taxis were imported from across the pond and put outside to create a fun ambiance. My favourite picks on the shop floor are a pair of sparkly grey pumps with heels that aren't too high for dancing in, but aren't too low for an evening dress, a grosgrain-bow overnight bag and a pair of teal leather elbow gloves with bow detail.

The boutiques can be found at 2 Symons Street, London SW3 2TJ and1-4 Langley Court, London. Are you excited that Kate Spade has found a new home in the UK?

Kate Spade and Poppy King Make a Cool Lip Color Frankenstein

Kate Spade and Poppy King teamed up for new Supercalifragilipstick ($24), a capsule collection of vividly hued, shiny lipstick/lip gloss hybrids.

Kate Spade and Poppy King teamed up for new Supercalifragilipstick ($24), a capsule collection of vividly hued, shiny lipstick/lip gloss hybrids. "The formula holds various polymers that have a high reflective index and allow for maximum shine with hours of wear," King explains, adding "[we] wanted to do something hyper-maximum rather than minimal."

Lots of lipstick formulations made to resemble lip gloss have arrived in stores lately, but it's always worth checking out when Poppy King throws her hat in the ring. There aren't any plans to launch Kate Spade makeup, though; so far this is just a one-off collaboration. Supercalifragilipstick will be available in Fall 2011, and when it arrives on the Kate Spade website and in their boutiques, will you be interested in picking one up?

When you think of Kate Spade, you probably think of preppy American handbags which are simple yet stylish. Well, so did I until I checked out the Kate Spade pop-up apartment in London this week. This is the brand's British debut and they have decorated an space on Henrietta Street in Covent Garden where you can buy a whole range of things from bags to clothes, and from homewares to jewellery. It has been decorated in such a cool way with plenty of art work, kitsch decorations and colourful stock. The brand is currently under the watchful eye of ex-Burberry Deborah J. Lloyd and currently has no presence in the UK, but is using this store as testing ground. Click through to check out the shop.

Which Fashion Item is on Your Christmas Wish List?

Can you believe that we're just days away from Christmas?

Can you believe that we're just days away from Christmas? I have eaten a fair few mince pies to get me in to the festive spirit! I've also been busy wrapping presents and wondering what Santa might be bringing me this year.

I'm hoping for a few items to spruce up my wardrobe for 2009 but what about you, which fashion item is on your Christmas wishlist?

Trend Alert: Straw Clutch

Evening clutch bags can be too heavy for Spring/Summer parties.

Evening clutch bags can be too heavy for Spring/Summer parties. It is still light when you arrive and your outfit in general becomes more colourful meaning that a black evening bag can look a bit out of place. So why not opt for a straw clutch instead? Sounds slightly strange as you don't generally associate such a natural fibre with dressing up but the latest offerings might just change your mind.

The bag can look more glamorous with a shot of metallic detail as see on the Michelle Clutch by Felix Rey (left, £150) or can be made brighter with a bit of colour as seen at Kate Spade (below, $225).

The great thing is that the High Street offers options from just £18 or you can pick up a Michael Kors version for £260, meaning you can spend as much or as little as you like. The accessory would perfectly compliment a floral dress for a garden party. What do you think?
