Homegrown beauty brand Jo Malone has an exotic addition to its fragrance portfolio this month. The new Sweet Lime & Cedar Cologne is inspired by Thai cuisine and has an appealingly spicy fragrance. The perfume is now available in the UK, US and Canada, and from March 2009 will roll out worldwide.

“The fragrance has been designed for both men and women,” Dominic De Vetta, Jo Malone’s global general manager told WWD. “Word of mouth has begun and we are thrilled to have waiting lists in many stores.”

The perfume has notes of Kaffir lime, ylang-ylang, tonka bean, pink pepper, jasmine, pomelo, cedarwood and coconut. It will be available in 30 and 100 ml sizes, which will retail at ÂŁ30 and ÂŁ59 respectively. I'm pleased to say that it seems like a fresh approach in an industry saturated with sweet floral and musky vanilla fragrances.

WWD states that according to industry sources it is estimated that Sweet Lime & Cedar Cologne will generate 10 percent of Jo Malone’s fragrance sales in its first year. The popular brand, which also has bath and body, candles and treatments, currently generates $150 million at retail annually, according to sources.

Jo Malone fragrances are designed to be worn together and layered for an individual smell that is unique to each person. Sweet Lime & Cedar, for example, can be paired with Orange Blossom or Grapefruit for a zesty scent.
