The last installment of the Harry Potter series comes to theaters July 15, bringing an end to one of the most popular sagas of our time. It's been more than 14 years since the first Potter book hit shelves, and for many people, the books and films were formative experiences.

In fact, many people love Harry, Hermione, Voldemort, and Snape (yes, even Snape) so much that they've decided to commemorate them with tattoos. In honor of the entire Hogwarts crew, we asked 16 tatted-up Potter fans to tell us about how and why they got their pieces. From dark marks to Protego charms, read on to see some truly magic ink.

I'd never read that King quote, but it's apt. I just read a good (not great, but very good) comic called American Vampire. It's all about the return of the scary vampire, which is refreshing after seeing sparkly ones who pose no danger.

ItsGlisten, I'm not a fan of Harry Potter, Twilight, or Stephen King, but this quote it dead-on: "Harry Potter is about confronting fears, finding inner strength and doing what is right in the face of adversity. Twilight is about how important it is to have a boyfriend." — Stephen King

While I am a huge hp fan, I wouldn't personally get a tattoo of it on me. For the people that do have it, good for you. I do find it really mean and lopsided and confusing how an article for twilight tattoos comes out and people all say it's stupid while hp tattoos are all around awesome and cool. (I know I know, they have nothing to do with one another and no one brought twilight up, but I'm just making that connection and wondered if anyone else did, too) However, the 9 3/4 is by far the coolest tattoo on there :D love it
