Gwyneth Paltrow showed her support at a Stand Up to Cancer event at The Savoy in London yesterday. She's involved in the charity after losing her father to cancer in 2002. Gwyneth said at the fundraiser, "I am all too aware of the impact this disease has on a family. I am so proud to be standing up to cancer for my dad." It's the second time this month that Gwyneth has stepped out for Stand Up to Cancer, since she also attended the annual telecast in LA with stars like Robert Pattinson, Jessica Biel, and Julia Roberts. She's been in the spotlight for her acting work as well, having hit the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival to promote Thanks For Sharing.

Gwyneth Paltrow slipped into a sexy white Tom Ford dress for a special event in London this evening. She was one of the famous faces, including her Emilia Wickstead-clad pal Cameron Diaz, Tom Ford himself and Anna Wintour, at the Obama Victory Fund dinner held at Mark's Club.

Gwyneth played cohost for the occasion, which came just one day after her pal Beyoncé Knowles held her own political function. Gwyneth Paltrow strikes a pose in purple for the October issue of InStyle, which hits newsstands this Friday, Sept. 21. Inside the publication, Gwyneth spoke about turning the big 4-0 later this month on Sept. 27, her family, and her much-scrutinized diet with interviewer Diane von Furstenberg. Gwyneth and Diane also talked about the GOOP empire, and the associated city guides Gwyneth's created. Here are highlights from Gwyneth Paltrow in InStyle:

• On turning 40: "I'm taking stock and really looking at everything. I'm trying to accept myself. There's a Rumi poem, 'The Guest House,' about welcoming in all aspects of yourself: the dark, the light, the jealous, the happy. Let them all in. But know that you're not defined by any single one of them. I've become much more serious after experiencing all the ups and downs of life — heartbreak, the death of people I love. . . . These days I feel pretty grounded."
• On her kids: "When Apple was born, she had the hugest blue eyes. I looked into them, and she was looking at me, and I felt like, 'You are here to teach me everything.' After [Moses] was born I had postpartum depression. It was a difficult time, and because of that I believe I have an extra empathy for him, and he for me."
• On her diet: "I was very strict for a while. I was macrobiotic for a couple of years, then I got pregnant and just ate ice cream. What I've learned is I want to enjoy my life, and food is a big part of it. I love to cook and feed people. I cook every day. I [indulge] but I don't like sweets. My indulging is a fresh baguette with cheese and a glass of red wine or french fries and fried zucchini. Or a turkey burger."

Gwyneth Paltrow joined her Thanks For Sharing costars Mark Ruffalo, Tim Robbins, Josh Gad, and Patrick Fugit on the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival tonight. She accented her black dress with red animal-print heels to pose for the cameras. Gwyneth made the trip up north after popping up in LA for the annual Stand Up to Cancer telethon yesterday. She not only attended the event but was also an executive producer. Gwyneth Paltrow and Jake Gyllenhaal met up for a screening of his new movie, End of Watch, in the Hamptons last night. The actors cohosted the event with Jessica Seinfeld, who was also there with her husband, Jerry. Gwyneth and Jake have been friends for years, ever since starring together in Proof. Gwyneth has also played matchmaker for single Jake, setting him up with Taylor Swift back in 2010. Gwyneth's own spouse, Chris Martin, turned out to see the film too.

Jake is rocking quite the beard these days, though he might have to lose it for his next big role. Jake is teaming up with the duo behind Half Nelson, which earned Ryan Gosling an Academy Award nomination, so if they can capture magic again perhaps Jake will be next in line for an Oscar nod.

Gwyneth Paltrow hit the red carpet at this evening's Met Gala in NYC decked out in a design from Prada. She revealed the designer of the frock at last night's party for The Conversation with Amanda de Cadenet, held at Diane von Furstenberg's Meatpacking District flagship store. As of yesterday, though, Gwyneth hadn't seen designer Miuccia Prada's creation. She said at the DVF bash, "I'm wearing Prada . . . I haven't seen the dress or anything."

Gwyneth Paltrow shared a laugh with her friend Amanda de Cadenet at a launch party for her new show The Conversation in NYC on Sunday. Diane von Furstenberg played host for the evening, throwing the star-studded bash at her studio. Other celebrity attendees included Diane Kruger, Rashida Jones, and Malin Akerman. Amanda was feted by some of her other A-list friends like Demi Moore and Rachel Zoe at another kickoff event in LA earlier last month.

Amanda has been able to get many of these big names to stop by her show for intimate chats already and TrèsSugar recently talked to her about the project. She says The Conversation With Amanda de Cadenet is for "women's women" and she revealed that the area some of her subjects are most wary to talk about is their relationships. In fact, at the soiree when asked if she could interview anyone, who would it be, Gwyneth replied, "My husband. It would be really cool. I'd ask him a bunch of questions."

Gwyneth Paltrow, Gwen Stefani, Reese Witherspoon, and Miranda Kerr were among the stars who joined Kristen Stewart at Paul McCartney's LA party last night. Paul, his wife Nancy Shevell, and his daughter Stella cohosted a launch of his new single "My Valentine," the video for which features cameos from Natalie Portman and Johnny Depp. Many of the celebs donned designs from Stella, including Miranda, Kristen, and Gwen, who looked amazing in a sheer-sided ensemble. Other stars who stepped out to support Paul included Ginnifer Goodwin, Rumer Willis, Amy Smart, Jane Fonda, and Kristen's The Runaways buddy Joan Jett.

Miranda was solo for the bash as her husband, Orlando Bloom, jetted out of LA yesterday with their 15-month-old son Flynn Bloom. Gwen was likewise without her own British husband, Gavin Rossdale, but did have the company of her No Doubt bandmate Tony Kanal.
