As the credit problems continue in the UK it seems someone is benefiting from consumers tighter budgets. It is expected to be announced that there has been a 25% rise in profits at Primark over the past six months meaning it is soon to be Britain's biggest store. It has already over taken George at Asda to be the nations second biggest clothing store and it is expected to over take Marks & Spencer if growth continues. The news comes as BBC air the first episode of Blood, Sweat and T-shirts highlighting the problems with disposable fashion. Sales at New Look, H&M and TK Maxx are also up. What do you make of this?

Post a CommentI dunno why people like primark everything is so cheap and nasty
Oh I can't wait to check out Primark next time I am in London. Last time Topshop, next time Primark!
I hate primark. Very trashy. I do not appreciate clothes that you cannot wear for more than a few months...however cheap it is.
KWM, you cannot possibly compare Topshop and Primark!! heh
I personally think Primark has been getting better and better recently. In the past few months I've bought some really lovely things, that I would never have expected to find there in the past, including some ballet pumps with leather uppers and lining. I've also noticed they seem to be going for designer (Miu Miu, Prada, Luella) copies this season, rather than copies of things from other high street shops. I know it's a bit dubious ethically, but I really can't fault their design team as of late, and I've never had a problem with the quality of anything I've bought from there- I've got things that have lasted a few years and are still fine.
You can hate on Primark all you want, but at the end of the day there are always a few terrific pieces there to pick up. The best thing about Primark is that it's a shop for everyone - rich and poor alike.
