We've made our kitchens organic and had wardrobe eco-makeovers but now it is the turn of the catwalk as a London based modeling agency vows to only use healthy girls. Quintessentially Models is a new ethically managed agency focused on healthy models. Working with eating disorder charity B-eat they intend to raise awareness to the health implications faced by models today.
In order to fulfill this promise they have recruited nutritionists, personal trainers, dermatologists and councillors to assist their clients free of charge. They already have offices around the world and models involved in major advertising campaigns. Do you think the idea will eventually end size zero models appearing on the catwalk?

I think this is a really great idea, although I think it will be a long time before the catwalk is looking healthy. Should the models on a catwalk be curvy anyway? The girls are supposed to be a sideline to the clothes rather than vice versa. Would girls who were more than coat hangers detract perhaps?
1Speaking as someone with an ED, I must say I highly appreciate this new agency. I'm glad to see people putting effort into spreading eating disorder awareness, and making healthier, not thinner, look a more desirable one.
But on a more pessimistic note, I think it'll be a while before size 0 models will disappear from catwalk. I for one enjoy seeing them stroll back and forth, even though I understand all the issues (both theirs and ours) that come with that. It takes a while to break one's perception of something.
Nevertheless, I applaud the Quintessentially Models. It's a great thing they've started.
2Models should show us the best way that a certain outfit can look and hanging on a coat rack doesn't show is at all what it will look like on us, nor does it accentuate the form of the garment when there's nothing holding it up.
Also, the more we see healthy models, the more people will like the look. We like what we're used. I stopped looking at runway models a long time ago and now i can't even look at them. They seem so scary.
