Emma Watson Brings The Bling Ring to the Big Apple

Emma Watson and her Bling Ring costars premiered their new project in NYC last night at the Paris Theatre. She was joined by director Sofia Coppola, Katie Chang, Israel Broussard, and the rest of the cast for the East Coast fete for the new film. The gang hooked up in LA last week when they premiered The Bling Ring alongside stars like Gwen Stefani and real-life Bling Ring victim Paris Hilton. While at the West Coast celebration, Paris told us that she still gets emotional when thinking about getting robbed by the group of Hollywood teens who targeted her home in 2008. Interestingly enough, Paris revealed that she never received an apology from the young criminals, who are all currently free and out of jail. Find out more about the robber bunch, including why they targeted Paris and which former Disney stars were next on their list before they got caught, in our real-life Bling Ring facts.

Red lipstick is always a classic, so it's no wonder celebrities embrace the glamorous colour, and this week, we saw three great examples. Gwen Stefani wore her classic red with soft, blond curls, while Emma Watson paired her crimson pout with a glorious updo. Sanaa Lathan opted for a soft apricot cheek to balance the colour. Sofia Coppola, Emma Watson, and Crew Bring The Bling Ring to LA

A midriff-baring Gwen Stefani was by Gavin Rossdale's side at Tuesday night's LA premiere of The Bling Ring. Gavin joined Emma Watson, Taissa Farmiga, and the rest of the film's young cast for the debut, as did many members of director Sofia Coppola's family and inner circle — Francis Ford Coppola, Jason Schwartzman, Sofia's Somewhere leading man Stephen Dorff, and Chloë Sevigny among them. The crime drama is based on true events that took place around LA in 2008. The real "Bling Ring" used social media to track down celebrities' whereabouts and robbed their homes when they were out of town. Victims included Rachel Bilson, Miranda Kerr, and Paris Hilton, who allowed Sofia to shoot in her home to re-create the robberies that took place there. Yesterday, Paris told us seeing the movie was an "emotional" experience and said she never got an apology from any of the teens who stole from her.

Gavin Rossdale plays a shady club owner fencing the stolen goods, and when we talked to him this evening, he reflected on being a public figure living in LA during the real-life crime spree. He joked that the "16 Rottweilers" he shares with Gwen Stefani seemed to protect them from the robbers. Gavin also said that while the disaffected SoCal teens portrayed in the movie made him think about moving their two young sons to Montana, the Stefani-Rossdales aren't leaving LA anytime soon. Stay tuned for our interviews with Gavin, Paris, and more of The Bling Ring's stars on tomorrow's POPSUGAR Live!

Nail Emma Watson's Modern Faux-Bob

We had to do a double-take when Emma Watson stepped out for the This is The End premiere last night.

We had to do a double-take when Emma Watson stepped out for the This is The End premiere last night. The actress's faux-bob was so believable, we thought that she'd actually cut off her hair. But the updo was simply an illusion . . . and a beautiful one at that. Instead of the typical faux-bob we tend to see that's full of messy tendrils, Emma's style was structured and sleek. And it's also quite easy to pull off yourself:

  1. Start by prepping your damp hair with a frizz-fighting serum, like Bed Head Control Freak (£14).
  2. Part your hair deeply to one side and then blow it dry, using a large round brush and a concentrator nozzle on your dryer. While blow drying, focus heat from the roots down to blow straight, but keep the end of your hair taught around your brush to create a large curl. Don't brush this curl out — it'll be easier to fold under if you leave it intact.
  3. Once your hair is dry, run a flat iron from your roots to about ear-level for added smoothness.
  4. Using a bristle brush, smooth the front two sections of your hair down and back and secure with a bobby pin at ear-level. Spray a healthy amount of hairspray to keep things in place.
  5. Take each curl one-by-one at the bottom of your hair and roll it under itself until your faux-bob is at its desired length. Pin each curl against your head by sliding a bobby pin through the center of the curl against your head.
  6. Once all curls are secure, gently run your bristle brush over them to fill in any gaps to create one cohesive look. Finish with a generous mist of hairspray, like ghd Final Fix Hairspray (£3.95).
