Burberry's biggest ever store (a whopping 44,000 square feet over four floors) opens at 121 Regent Street today and boy is it impressive. It has taken two years to get to this stage, and is the British brand's first showcase of its entire merchandise with 13 collections on offer, including watches, eyewear, shoes, beauty, plus the Burberry Bespoke trench-making service. Shoppers can expect video entertainment on a huge indoor retail screen, live events on a hydraulic stage, and a digitally enhanced service. Chief creative officer, Christopher Bailey told WWD: "It’s the physical incarnation of our Web site, the hub of everything to do with Burberry." The unit has kept the original Art Nouveau lamps in the main hall of the 1820 building, but all other fixtures and fittings are custom-designed by 50 British trade companies, who have created glass lanterns, gold leaf lettering, and handmade furniture in "trench" shades. The RFID system in changing rooms means customers can watch a video about the craftsmanship behind a product. Amazing, right? Take a look inside here, and tell me what you think!
