For the 2013 Costume Institute Benefit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the stars took the punk theme to the extreme. Mohawks, smoky eye makeup, colored hair, and more rocker chic beauty looks were spotted on the red carpet. We count down the top five looks that had our jaws dropping and crown the biggest surprise of the night.
The hair and makeup at the Costume Institute Benefit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is consistently some of the best of the year. And with a theme centering around the Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibit, high drama was a must-have look. But surprisingly, the best looks of the evening ran the gamut of sophisticated rebel to all-out rocker.
Sarah Jessica Parker wowed the red carpet congregation with an over-the-top Trojan headpiece that was nestled among a twisting collection of fishtail plaits. Nicole Richie was also a surprising arrival, sporting a wispy, gray beehive that was part powdered wig and part punk. Speaking of wigs, Madonna opted for a Bettie Page-inspired hairpiece, complete with short, blunt fringe.
Moving on to the blondes of the ball, Sienna Miller went all-out grunge with a seriously textured hairstyle embellished with a studded hairpiece, inky black liner, and a nude lipstick. And in one of the more jaw-dropping moments of the evening, Anne Hathaway stunned with a peroxide blond pompadour, accented with lavender shadow and loads of liner. Whether they were giving punk a sophisticated spin or going completely chaotic, these five ladies stole the show in their own right. But who was your pick for the best punk beauty look of the Met Gala?
Tonight's Met Gala was all about punk, and many of Hollywood's sweetest celebrities jumped at the chance to amp up the edge on the red carpet. While we expected stars like Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry to embrace their rock chick roots, seeing celebrities like Anne Hathaway, Taylor Swift, and Allison Williams go for more daring ensembles was fun to watch play out at the bash. Anne went platinum blond, Dakota Fanning showed off serious skin, Allison got into a goth mood, and Ginnifer Goodwin sported dramatic eye makeup for the night. Sandal boots first emerged on the Fall 2013 catwalks, but it seems they've already infiltrated celebrity circles. Anne Hathaway was one of the first to rock Tom Ford's black patent buckled sandal boots — which were said to be custom-made vegan — with her black taffeta Tom Ford gown at the NYC premiere of Les Misérables back in December. Rihanna rocked the same Tom Ford sandal boots in nude with a Mary Katrantzou tee and Siwy shorts during a recent night out in NYC, while Selena Gomez edged up her black trench coat with black Brian Atwood cutout sandal boots for her appearance on the

How does this faux python and gold, heavy metal chain bag from Stella McCartney make you feel? I am seriously loving it along with Kate Hudson who was seen wearing it in London last month. Also spotted in Los Angeles, Paris and New York with her baby boo is Anne Hathaway. Lastly, Sienna Miller carried the green version to theatre in New York City on a date with her man Tim Sturridge. This amazing Baby Bailey Boo Bag costs (£670) and is available in two shades. There is also a larger tote in the same colours that costs (£800). The bags will be available very soon online and in stores, as they are part of the Spring Summer 2013 collection. I feel a fashion frenzy coming on with this new arm candy — what are your thoughts?
