Vogue revealed their January issue coverstar yesterday as actress Cate Blanchett. Shot by celebrated photographer Patrick Demarchelier, Cate also appears inside the issue in a shoot taken in Stockhold titled 'The Night Shift'.
The issue also considers the current financial climate and looks to the past for tips on how to deal with it. Editor Alexandra Schulman explains, Looking through the Vogue library, it was irresistible to republish some of the make-do-and-mend style advice advocated by the Vogue teams during the World Wars. We're not at war - at least, not at the time of writing - but it was a reminder that lean years often produce great ideas and creativity."
Earlier this month it was revealed that Cheryl Cole is to a coverstar and I know that some of our readers expressed frustration at the choice of celebrity coverstars, so what do you think about Cate?

I do love Cate, but I just don't think it's an interesting cover at all - they've gone from last months really fun/interesting one to this.
1I think Cate is much more elegant and sophisticated and ultimately more interesting to me than Cheryl. So great choice, I completely approve!
Cheryl's sweet and has a lovely face, so would like to see her as a cover girl too at one point.
2This cover is a bit lame really, especially compared to the great one they did last month. I mean it's not bad or anything, and Cate does look good, but I would expect a bit more creativity from Vogue.
