As we see the return of separates in the fashion world this trend merges with the architectural vibe to create the tulip skirt. Pencil skirts are a wardrobe essential but tulip skirts make the look a bit edgier and are often more flattering. They feature exaggerated detail on the hips which hides a multitude of sins! The only downside is that they can be quite tight around the knees and calves leading to you walking in a strange manner! They appeared on the catwalk most notably at Lanvin but also at Paul Smith and Roland Mouret. Try Miss Selfridge or Warehouse on the High Street.

I think tulip skirts are great but you MUST wear them with heels - flats just make you look a bit clownish for some reason.
1Oooh I really don't think I could pull it off, I'd just look like a shy version of the Edinburgh/Glasgow school of art kids!
2I love tulip skirts, they're sort of classic but with a bit of a twist. I have one I wear for interviews from Topshop, a little like the Warehouse one.
