Holiday beauty can go one of two ways – either you see it as a chance to relax about your regime; give your skin a break from makeup and just generally aim for a laid back beauty look – or else you up the ante with the time to really experiment with new looks, and all that partying.
Personally, I do laid back in the day, for by the beach, and at night crank up the volume with glowing skin, bright lights, bold colour [1] and experimenting with new products.
Here's how to take your look from beach to bar: Just
- Hair: Start prepping your hair during the day. Protect from the sun, and get ready for the evening, by using non-oil based products. Try Redken UV Rescue Colour Saving Swim Cream, [2] (£14.85). Plait your hair on the beach and by the end of the day you'll have gorgeously, tousled hair.
- Lips: This is a great time to experiment with bold lip colours that you may balk at back in the UK. I have recently fallen hard for Clarins Joli Rouge [3] in Cupid Red and Hawaiian Coral, (£14.50). The formulations are very moisturising which means the colour looks bright, yet still covetable.
- Skin: Aim for glow, as oppose to shine. If you're going to be dancing, then don't cake your face with too much foundation, instead use a light and luminous base, such as Boots No7 Dual Protection Tinted Moisturiser, [4] (£10).
- Nails: You can go all out with nail colours, as this season's juiciest shades flatter lightly tanned skin. Revlon [5] have a fab selection of cheap but cheerful brights that you can pick and mix to maximum effect.
- Eyes: Bright makeup has a Club Tropicana feel that looks right for sipping cocktails, post-pool. If it's hot and humid, work with the heat, not against it, to ensure your makeup will last. Choose cream formulations that will blend into the skin and look sexily smudgy. Try a thick, cream eyeliner/shadow, such as Jemma Kidd Make Up School Stardust [6] in Star (blue) or Aurora (green), (£8.50).
