GQ writer Glenn O'Brien has this week spoken out against men in flip flops stating, "Flip-flops are for the beach or maybe for washing the car or spaniel. They are not the next big thing. They are the last sad thing on the road to stylistic surrender."
Although he is actually referring to men in flip flops I can't help but wonder what impact this has on the shoe for women. For me, it's a Summer staple mainly due to it's comfort even though I know fashion isn't about comfort (if it was we'd all wear slippers to work). I like the annoying noise it makes (unless you're trying to run down the stairs) and that it's name is an onomatopoeia but O'Brien's harsh words have made me rethink. Do you love the flip flop?

I would only wear flip flops on the beach or as slippers at home. I think they look terrible worn out on the street, and your feet end up filthy after a day on city pavements. There are so many flat sandal options that actually look like shoes, there's no need to wear flip flops.
