We are increasingly seeing more fur on the catwalks and on style icons, such as Naomi Campbell and Jennifer Lopez. Add that vintage style is becoming even more desirable each season, and real fur seems to back in fashion.
How do you feel about this? Is it ever ethical to wear fur? Do you prefer the real deal to fake or faux fabrics?
Do you wear real fur? Do tell...

Ugh no! First I don't like the look, then I'd feel too funny having a dead animal on my shoulders.
1I've never worn fur but if I found something in a vintage shop I might go for it.
2mmm soft and warm
3Absolutely not. Not ever.
4I inherited my aunt's four minks, plus I have a '70's raccoon coat that I bought second hand about 20 years ago. I also have quite a few vintage fur pieces purchased over the years, such as boas and collars. I have no problem with vintage fur; to me this is just another form of recycling. Nothing keeps you warm like fur, though I would never purchase a new one. Nor would I purchase a new faux fur; to me thats almost as bad considering the amount of chemicals used to produce it and the fact that they will not degrade when they wind up in a landfill (as people are much quicker to do with a cheap faux fur.) A good quality fur that was well-cared for can last more than one lifetime (hence the amazing condition of my aunt's coats -- they were all purchased in the late 50's-early 60's) quite unlike the cloth coats I've purchased over the years.
5No never. The idea of having a dead animal wrapped around my body freaks me out
6I adore luxury fake furs.
7I see no difference between wearing leather and wearing fur, each comes from a dead animal.
8Unless you happen to live in a polar climate without access to high-tech insulating material - there really is no excuse for wearing fur.
Vintage or fake fur are equally abhorrent in that they do their part in popularizing and justifying the use of fur in fashion, thereby helping create a market for new fur.
Re: leather: the difference is that with leather, it is a residual product. If an animal is going to be slaughtered at all, it better be used to its fullest extent, including hide/leather. Moreover, leather has redeeming qualities fur does not, especially where it comes to shoes.
9I agree it's something that anyone opposing the use of fur needs to consider carefully, though.
Never, the thought makes me sick. The fur industry is disgusting, and like Morganfay said, there is a big difference between fur and leather.
10I love wearing real fur,it makes me feel so glamourous and feels so nice. Most of my furs have been passed to me by older family members which shows there quality.I have new furs which i have no problem wearing, provided they are sourced from a country with proper standards on there fur farms.
11Only if it's Christian Dior!
12I actrually do have a white fur coat and love it. Its made from my fav animal bunnys
13fur is not fashion. fur is murder!
it is needless murder for our vanity and to be totally honest, it doesn't even look that nice.
