The final day of London Fashion Week Autumn 2008 is well underway with shows from Unconditional, Allegra Hicks and Julian Macdonald planned for the final day. Italian born designer Allegra Hicks has been showing at London Fashion Week since 2005 and today opened the shows with her Autumn/Winter '08 line.
Hicks is famous for her bohemian style and is possibly more comfortable designing summer-wear than winter pieces but today presented a good collection of grown-up womenswear. There were a wide range of rich colours including burgundy, brown and copper giving a definite Autumnal feel. She remained true to her bohemian roots with funky detailing, including bell-sleeve midi-dresses and chic prints.
Waists were clinched with thick, '70s style belts and lengths were kept around the knee. Flashes of gold dressed up otherwise casual outfits and luxurious fabrics such as lace and silk made the looks more glamorous. I think her designs are too grown up for me, but would you wear it?
